The force feedback settings below have been tried and tested, and have been optimised over the default settings. They may not be perfect for everybody, as each driver likes their wheel to feel slightly different.

However, these F1 22 force feedback settings will serve as a fantastic starting point. You can proceed to adjust and tinker with these settings to really perfect them to your own likeness.

For most racing wheels below, I have included settings for both in-game and wheel settings. Wheels from brands such as Fanatec allow you to change your force feedback on the wheel directly. This gives you access to two sets of settings, one for your wheel and one for in-game.

To really get the most out of these force feedback settings, I’d recommend using both the wheel settings and in-game settings.

As we have only had limited access to F1 22 in its beta phase, the wheel settings below will be updated when the game officially launches.

F1 22 Force Feedback Settings Explained

While the force feedback in F1 22 has been improved over previous years. The settings that you can change in-game are pretty much the same as previous Formula 1 games.

You can head into the ‘Controls, Vibration and Force Feedback’ settings to view and change your force feedback. You’ll also be able to calibrate your racing wheel and adjust the button mapping controls too.

Below is an overview of how each setting affects your racing wheel in F1 22.

F1 22 Wheel Settings - Best Force Feedback Settings (10)

Vibration & Force Feedback Strength

This setting can be viewed as your main force feedback strength setting. Changing this will affect how strong your overall force feedback is. And it will in turn affect all other settings in this list.

If your wheel feels too strong, or you are experiencing force feedback clipping in F1 22. You can lower this below 100%. This will reduce the overall strength and force output.

If you believe your wheel feels too weak, you can boost this over 100%. This will increase all parts of the force feedback. Be careful when tuning this setting because if you set it too high you can run into clipping.

Force feedback clipping is the term given when your force feedback peaks above the strength output of your wheel. This will mean your force feedback won’t feel as detailed as more forces will be running above 100%. You should definitely look to avoid this.

On Track Effects

The on track effects setting will increase or decrease the strength of everything felt on track. This relates to bumps in the track surface as well as marbles as you progress through a race. Increase this if you can’t feel many bumps on the track.

Rumble Strip Effects

The rumble strip effects is similar to on track effects, however, it only affects kerbing. If you increase this setting all physical kerbs in the game will feel bumpier and harsher to drive over. If you lower it, you won’t feel as much of the kerbs when driving over them.

Off Track Effects

The off track effects is the third setting that enhances specific surface details. Much like on track and rumble strip effects. The off track effects will affect how harsh the surfaces off track feel. These include grass and gravel as you go off track. It can be wise to lower this setting to make it easier to return to the track.

Wheel Damper

Wheel damping is the term given to the overall strength of tyre forces as they’re in contact with the road. Essentially, wheel damping adds weight to your wheel to simulate the weight of your car. Increasing this will make your racing wheel feel heavier to turn.

This effect is pronounced when your car is stationary, as this is the hardest moment to turn your wheels in F1 22.

Understeer Enhance

The last setting, understeer enhance is a simple on or off setting. Turning it on will artificially increase the sense of understeer. It will make your racing wheel feel incredibly light as soon as your car starts to understeer.

While this setting isn’t realistic and doesn’t simulate real-world forces, it can help new players learn when their car is understeering. I would recommend turning this on if you struggle to define understeer in-game.

Once you feel confident that you can identify understeer in F1 22, I would recommend turning this setting off. Leaving this setting off will give you the most realistic experience.

Overview

Hopefully, these F1 22 force feedback settings will help you dial in your racing wheel. They should help improve the overall feeling of racing with a wheel in F1 22. Allowing you to understand how your car is behaving as well as being able to better control your inputs.
